About the Artist

I’m Buddy Pajak, a painter and muralist from the central Texas hill country whose art is best described as an energetic illustrative style smashed into fine art.

My work derives from my young life surrounded by friends, immersed in our collective imagination. We read comic books, drew pictures, and created worlds and stories that both reflected and expanded our everyday experiences. In my art, I now try to recapture the nostalgia of these moments. I want to express the intention of these times spent using color and narrative to enrich our lives, to inspire curiosity, amusement, and even a sense of the weird. My mural work especially communicates this purpose on large wall spaces with splashes of color and imagination in order to capture the viewer.

Beyond nostalgia, I carry much of the graphic, comic book style that formed so much of my early visual world. It is the fantastical and dramatic aesthetic that draws me in. My current process involves using oil paint to harness that energy within the principles of fine art – lines, balance, contrast – to create off-beat emotive pieces with a mix of bright and subtle moods.
